Difficulty Rating: Beginner
This pattern was developed with the beginner sewist in mind. It is wonderful for those new to sewing cork, vinyl, or leather. However, it can be modified and enhanced by intermediate and advanced sewists.
**This pattern is designed for a variety of raw-edge materials including cork, vinyl, or leather. Materials that fray are not suitable.**
Description:
The Discovery Wallet is a quickly constructed wallet with four card slots (which hold multiple cards each), one zippered compartment, and a bills pocket. Designed as a beginner-friendly project for those just introduced to cork or vinyl, The Discovery has minimal hardware, but it can be dressed up with fun embellishments or embroidery. It is an excellent pattern for sewing up for gifts or to stock up for artisan markets.
NOTE: This pattern contains NO pattern pieces. Cut dimensions are provided.
(For best printing, use the "fit" and "auto orientation" settings.)
Finished measurements:
6" wide, 4.25" tall, and 0.75" deep
Materials List includes:
¼ yard Cork, Vinyl, or Leather fabric
OR
Use scrap pieces
1 Magnetic Snap
1 6” zipper or 6” of zipper tape with one pull attached
Scraps of Firm Interfacing such as Decovil Light or Peltex
Coordinating Thread
Sewing Clips
Removeable pen or chalk
Fray Check
Double-sided tape (optional)
Edgecoat (optional)
Teflon Foot or Walking Foot highly recommended when sewing with Cork or Vinyl
